HALF DAY TOUR TO TEREZIN CONCENTRATION CAMP - 4 HOURS

Emperor Josef II founded this town near Litoměřice in the late 18th century. It is an outstanding example of a military fort in the style of Classicist architecture. The complex consists of three parts – the main fortress with the garrison town, the so-called Small fortress and the Upper and Lower “Water gates”. The garrison town has a regular ground plan with a central town square and a Classicist church built in the early 19th century. The military fort with extensive bastions and underground casemates have preserved in the nearly original state. In the course of World War II the town was ill-fated as a "model" concentration camp for Jews from all over Europe; the Small fortress served as a prison for the Prague Gestapo. A Memorial to the victims of Nazism and the Holocaust has been established here as a memento of modern European history. The key mission of the Terezin Memorial, the only institution of its kind in the Czech Republic, is to commemorate the victims of the Nazi political and racial persecution during the occupation of the Czech lands in World War II, to promote museum, research and educational activities, and look after the memorial sites connected with the suffering and death of dozens of thousands of victims of violence. No lunch provided.

TASTE OF PRAGUE

Experience Prague in a different way through the food. Visit with your culinary expert local vendors and experience the real authentic taste of Prague. Guests will visit Czech beer chain Lokál with fresh tank beer, pickled cheese, goulash. Naše Maso “Our Meat” is local butchery which will have vary selection of sausages. With Sansho, we want to show the local heirloom pig at its highest quality available on the market, served by the man who single-handily brought it back after the small-yield animal was abandoned by the Communist farm conglomerates and became nearly extinct, Chef Paul Day, former sous-chef at London’s Nobu and a collaborator with London’s St John’s restaurant and butcher shop. Sansho is one of five restaurants in Prague awarded the Bib Gourmand award by the Michelin guide. (Eska being the other one on the tour.) The pigs that Chef Day uses are still the original ones from the Sasov farm, and you cannot find a better representative. We will have the crispy pork belly with hoisin sauce and watermelon, an absolutely stunning dish that tends to be one of the absolute favorites on our tours. It also shows the effects of the Vietnamese community here in Prague, since it uses ingredients that are being flown in from Vietnam to Prague every second day to accommodate the local Vietnamese community. We will wash the dish down with either local craft beer or a glass of wine, as per the guests’ choosing.

In next stop Eska will food lovers try some drinks like gin and tonic, wine and local bread or potatoes in ashes. Last stop will be in sweet shop Myšák where people will try local desserts.
